Lucene Revolution 2012, held in Boston on May 7-10 was a huge success. The four-day conference began with two days of Lucene/Solr and Big Data training followed by two days of well-received presentations.  Nearly 400 attendees converged for these two days packed with technical sessions, developer content, user case studies, panels, and networking opportunities. Lucene Revolution 2012 featured key thought leaders building and deploying Lucene/Solr-based applications.  The combination of these compelling speakers and unmatched networking opportunities created a unique community of practice and experience.

From the sold out “Scaling Search with Big Data and Solr” pre-conference training course to the standing room only Big Data Track sessions, it is clear the challenge of Big Data is top of mind for most of this year’s attendees and for the community at large. Further, the vast majority of this year’s attendees are new to Lucene and Solr, with less than three years of experience.

Given the above trends, it’s only fitting that Lucid Imagination, the host of Lucene Revolution, would announce the latest addition to our product line, LucidWorks Big Data. Grant Ingersoll, Lucid co-founder and Chief Scientist introduced the platform that enables large scale search, discovery and analytics over a wide variety of content utilizing tools like Solr, Hadoop, Mahout and others. Applications to be considered as a Big Data beta customer started pouring in before he was even able to complete his presentation!

Many thanks to all the speakers and attendees who contributed to yet another outstanding Lucene Revolution. Presentation slides are now available, and we’re posting the session videos just as fast as they come out of production.
