Andrew Savory: 35 in a million

On Wednesday, the Apache Software Foundation reached the milestone of a million commits of code to the Apache subversion code repository.

Tony asks "ever wondered what 1 million svn log entries look like?". Well yes, I have. I was curious, so I downloaded the log of all 1,000,000 commits to take a look. This is a fascinating piece of historical data, and should keep data miners busy for quite a time. I'd love to see some imaginative visualisations of that data -- commits over time, commits by individuals, commits per project, etc.

Of course, closer to home, I thought I'd see how I'm reflected in that history: grep -c 'asavory |' rgardler-svn.log

It's only 35 commits in total, but spans more than 7 years of contribution to Apache, on top of more than a decade of being a user, community member and vocal supporter. I'm proud to be even a small part of such a fantastic history.
